Santa's trailer down by the river

I see this trailer every year, and every year I say I'm going to take a photo. Tonight was the night. The vendor went into it and closed the door so I could see the whole mural thang. I think the painted Santa is going to give me nightmares tonight. Trust me, the pics are better blurry. I mean that in a good way! Thanks Christmas tree guy!

first snow in Boston

I was given a car! It's a 1999 Buick Regal with only 61,000 miles on it! It's bouncy and fast and I call it the Regal Beagle. Thanks universe! Here are some photos taken from the warm and cozy Beagle today.
I can't get enough of the Hite signLet it snow baby! Yeaaaaaaaaah!
It's across the street from the Allen House on Washington Street.

Mapparium in Boston

I took some family members to the Mapparium at the Mary Baker Eddy Library on Mass Avenue near Berklee. We'll never forget it. GO THERE! Great multi-media show. It's cheap. Beautiful exhibit and exhibit space. Walk around Boston and look at the Christmas lights.

I can't stop watching this!

It's a Scopitone from the
early 60s by a group called
The Condors. Great version
of Ain't That Just Like Me!
Another by The Searchers.
Yet another by The Hollies.
Put on yer bikini and shake it!
Love the guys' entrances!
Waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

Lite-Brite making things with light

As a wiener, I received a Show 'N Tell for Christmas. It was on this thing that I played my older sister's 45s. I also received Lite-Brite (under the table).

happy holidaze!

I took a digital illustration class this semester and our final project was
to illustrate a holiday card. I went the "this too shall pass" route. There
are many things I love about Christmas, particularly the Phil Spector Christmas album from 1963 featuring Darlene Love, but once those jewelry store commercials start.... Ugh. Reeeeeeeeeooooow! Darlene Love was lead singer for The Blossoms who were the backup singers on Shindig! Watch The Blossoms get blown away by Aretha at 1:40.

a swingin' good time!

One of the grooviest things my dad did was to hang a swing from a really high tree branch in our back yard. He would give us the most powerful pushes which enabled us to touch branches with our feet. My sister and her husband have done the same thing. It's the simple things that bring such joy. The expressions on my friends' son's faces say it all! Hang a swing in your yard and create joy and great memories for your kids... and joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea! Weeeeeeeeeeee!

jerry the dentist

I love when you're watching a film or tv show and you recognize an actor in a role before they were famous. Here's Jerry, the next door neighbor of the Petrie's (and Millie's husband) in The Wild One as part of Marlon Brando's motorcycle gang! Here's Robert Duvall in an early 60s Twilight Zone episode. William Shatner on the Twilight Zone.

supposedly...

this song was inspired by the Rat in Kenmore Square in Boston. You'd think that if the show was going to have peeps dancing with her on stage, they'd get people who could actually dance! Nimrods I tell ya!
